What the Tzolk’in calculates
The Tzolk’in combines twenty named Day Signs with thirteen numbered tones. The two sequences advance together, producing 260 distinct sign-and-tone days before the same pairing returns. The Day Sign describes the main form of energy associated with the date. The Tone describes how that energy moves or expresses itself. The Trecena identifies the thirteen-day cycle containing the date.
The Tzolk’in is different from the 365-day Haab solar calendar and the Long Count used for historical dates. They can be shown together, but they answer different questions.

Why two calculators can disagree
A disagreement usually comes from the framework, not from a person having two authentic MMS signs. Check three things:
- Does the tool use GMT 584283 or another correlation?
- Does the tool calculate the traditional Tzolk’in or Dreamspell?
- Does it use traditional Day Sign names or Dreamspell color-and-seal names?
