From Energy Blockages to Emotional Clarity: How EFT Helps You Heal from Within

Understanding Emotional Energy and Tension in the Body

Have you ever wondered why sometimes we’re feeling these tensions, this stress in our body, this headache?

It’s for a reason we’re feeling that way. When we experience really difficult or heavy emotional uplifts, this is all related to the energy produced in our system that we didn’t manage to release.

It’s important to understand that strong emotions not released can create energetic blockages in our bodies.

Ancient Understanding of Energy Flow

Back in the day in China, it was believed that our bodies contain a network of meridians.

Meridians are energy channels through which life force (or “qi”) flows. When we experience negative emotions or feelings and don’t release them, they can create blockages in these meridians — preventing the organs connected to them from working properly.

This can cause physical symptoms, and in some cases, even contribute to physical tissue issues or illness.

Introducing Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Here is one technique that I want to introduce you to: it’s called the Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as EFT or Tapping.

It is a gentle, holistic method used for emotional healing. It requires you to tap with your fingertips on specific meridian points (acupoints) that are connected to different energy channels in the body.

The Impact of Energy Blockages on Our Lives

Before we delve deeper into EFT, it’s important to understand that energy blockages — in both psychological and spiritual terms — can prevent you from living your best life.

  • Spiritually, they can hold you back from moving forward. You may not fully accept yourself, love your body, or be able to raise your self-worth and self-esteem.
  • Psychologically, they can prevent you from feeling balanced and clear in your mind.

Many emotions are stored in the body, especially in parts that are energetically weaker. For each person this is different — for some, it might be the neck, for others the shoulders or knees.

Emotional Attachments and the Need for Release

When you feel anxiety or are still attached to trauma, this truly prevents you from moving forward in life.

You might find yourself less likely to take action on things you truly want to do. Something holds you back, whispering reasons why you shouldn’t — fear, self-doubt, or a lack of joy.

That’s why EFT is so powerful: it helps dissolve these blockages, release trauma, and restore flow, allowing you to move forward with greater freedom and clarity.

What Is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

So, what exactly is EFT?

EFT is acupressure without needles. It combines tapping on acupressure points with psychological focus — gently verbalizing emotions or memories that cause distress.

Developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, EFT is based on the principles of acupuncture and psychology. It’s now widely recognized and researched for its ability to help with stress, trauma, and emotional healing.

The method works by tapping on specific meridian points while acknowledging the emotions you’re experiencing — bringing them to the surface so they can be safely released.

How EFT Heals from Within

EFT heals from within. When we start tapping, we tune into the problem — and while tapping on different points, we bring the emotion right to the surface.

This sends a calming signal to the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for the stress response. As a result, you begin to release emotional attachment and clear the stuck energy.

EFT helps to:

  • Lower cortisol (the stress hormone)
  • Restore energy flow in the meridians
  • Increase emotional clarity and balance

Studies have shown that EFT can reduce anxiety, lower cortisol levels, and even support PTSD recovery.

How to Practice EFT: Step-by-Step Guide

Here’s a simple, five-step process to start your own EFT tapping session:

1. Identify the Emotion or Issue

Recognize what’s bothering you — for example, stress or anxiety about work.

Example: “My boss told me I’m not doing enough, even though I’m doing a lot.”

2. Rate Its Intensity

On a scale from 0 to 10, rate how strong the emotion feels.

For example: I’d rate it an 8.

3. Create a Setup Statement

Use a phrase like:

“Even though I feel [emotion], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Repeat this three times while tapping the karate chop point on the side of your hand.

4. Tap Through All the Points

Tap gently on the following points:

  • Top of the head
  • Eyebrow
  • Side of the eye
  • Under the eye
  • Under the nose
  • Chin
  • Collarbone
  • Under the arm

While tapping, say short reminder phrases related to your issue, such as:

“My boss told me that I’m not doing enough.”
“I’m feeling stressed because of him.”

5. Reassess

After one round, rate the emotion again. Notice whether the intensity has decreased.

For example: I went from an 8 to a 3.

Find a quiet, safe space, stay self-aware, and tune into yourself during the session.

EFT is safe for self-practice, but working with a practitioner can help deepen your results.

Benefits of EFT and Emotional Healing

Practicing EFT regularly can bring many benefits, including:

  • Reduced anxiety and stress
  • Better emotional regulation
  • Improved sleep
  • Balanced energy and mood
  • Higher self-esteem and self-worth
  • Personal growth and improved relationships

These benefits reflect how EFT can support both your emotional and spiritual evolution.

Conclusion: Healing from Within

EFT is a powerful bridge between emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

It reminds us that emotional clarity comes from within, and when our energy meridians are clear, we naturally feel more balanced, peaceful, and aligned.
