The strong body, the way the person filled a room, and most of all those intense eyes. Some Maya even said they were a little afraid of Serpent people. Not because Serpents are dangerous, but because the energy they carry is so strong that you can feel it before a word is spoken.

Today I want to walk you through what this sign really is, where that power comes from, and the one thing every Serpent has to learn in order to be at peace with it.
What the Serpent sign means in Mayan astrology
The Serpent is called Chicchan by the Yucatec Maya and Kan by the K’iche’. It is the fifth of the twenty day signs, and it sits in the East, the direction of the sunrise, the future, the leading edge of things. A Serpent day is a day of raw vital energy, instinct, and the desire to create. That is the fingerprint you were born with.
Here is the part most astrology sites will never tell you, because it is not really astrology at all, it is the body. The Maya called the Serpent power Corre Appa. In India the same force has another name, Kundalini, the coiled snake said to rest at the base of the spine. It is the same thing. It is an energy that sits at your root, at the mooladhara chakra, and in a Serpent person a good part of it is already awake. That is why the eyes are intense. That is why people feel you across a room. You are not imagining it, and you did not do anything to earn it. You were simply born with the switch already turned on.
Think of it like a strong current running through a wire. The current itself is neither good nor bad. It can light a house or it can burn one down, and the only thing that decides which is the wiring. For a Serpent, your whole life is really the art of learning your own wiring.
The gift, and the warning that comes with it
Let me give you the gift first, because it is real. Serpents make wonderful healers. The energy runs strong in your hands, so bodywork, Reiki, bioenergy, any kind of healing touch tends to come naturally to you. Your mind is powerful too, which is why so many Serpents end up as coaches, mentors, consultants, doctors, or scientists. Anything that channels that intensity into helping another person is good ground for you. Now the warning, and I say it with love. That same current, if you leave it sitting at the root, turns into pure appetite. I do not tell her story to frighten you. I tell it because Marilyn is the reason my Serpent warning is not just words. Here was the sign at maximum power, magnetism the whole world could feel, and the current was never quite given a safe place to go. Remember what I always say. You are not your sign. Her chart did not sentence her to anything. It simply shows, at the highest possible volume, the same choice every Serpent carries: move the energy up, or let it move you.

The Serpent, Kundalini, and your own Tree of Life

In the Maya tradition there is a sacred energy called Koyopa, and it is described as a kind of electricity that moves through the body. It is pictured as the Feathered Serpent, Kukulcan to the Maya, Quetzalcoatl to the Aztec, and it is the exact same idea as the coiled snake of Kundalini.
