Today – 17 September 2020 – is the New Moon. Our contributing writer Cheyenne Jahn – an astrologer and energy interpreter – often shares insights into these lunar phases. Today, she is combining this with the energies of current knife trecena we’re in.
September 17 New Moon in Virgo and The Knife
An image to visualise inspired by the Sabian Symbol for 25-26 degrees of Virgo:
A censer burns sacred incense as fragranced smoke envelopes a space.
Ideas of the unknown. Introversion. Clearing.
Almost every distant planet above is retrograde, appearing to travel backwards in the sky, retracing steps, like the mind concocting a memoir.
So we reassess and ponder what has been, why certain things happened the way they did, the ways we chose to live our lives, bringing us to this moment.
What have we created? Are we fulfilled by our past? What do we want our future to look like? Can we alter our lives with simple daily choices or are we trapped by patterns much larger than us?
As we consider these questions we begin to realise ideas that have always been bubbling up as if we’ve been holding our breathe too long, the last of our life force escaping us.
We all have something we’ve put off, suppressed, kept hidden in the basement of our here and now.
Maybe washing our feet and doing our buttons is higher on the to-do list than that joyful experience, that inspirational act that seems inappropriate because of this reason or that. It gets dragged farther and farther into the background. We are aware of it, but we ignore it as we go on with our daily lives in a sort of just-content, sedating haze.
Now may be a time of introspection and the weighing out of ideas for some, but the strength of a lion’s jaw propels what must be seen and heard into conscious awareness.
There is courage in our convictions for decisions to be thought out, planned but not acted upon…yet.
As Lewis Carrol said:
“the hurrier I go, the behinder I get.”
Or the words from JRR Tolkien:
“You must understand, young Hobbit, it takes a long time to say anything in Old Entish. And we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say.”
So, discontented with how things have been, gently carve the plans, dreams and ideas away until something of beauty remains.
A tension will continue to be taut beneath the surface for a while, but it serves to spring us forward, lest we remain as we’ve always been, or lying on the earth, sun warming our skin, day-dreaming for too long.
